Tech Tip: Having a Consistent & Recognizable Brand

Your brand is what identifies your business or organization and is your most valuable asset. If someone sees a flyer, social media post, or advertisement by you, would they recognize your brand?

Elements of a brand include:

  • Name
  • Logo
  • Symbols
  • Colors
  • Font
  • Photos
  • Language

It’s essential that your brand is represented in anything you do or make, and that it is consistent.

Even a small sign at your business, such as your hours or an announcement, should have at least one of your elements—a splash of the color from your brand, the same font used on your website, or your logo.

It’s not just graphic design, either, the way you talk about your business and show it in photos represents your brand.

For example, the Barnard House in Emlenton aims to have a comforting feeling and to be a “safe haven” for visitors. They show this on social media through photos of the peaceful river and cozy rooms, and also through using words like “solitude,” “breathe,” and “restful.”

Before you publish anything, think: “How can I incorporate my brand?” If you’re not sure your brand is represented enough, have a friend take a look. Make sure the time and/or money you spend to get your name out makes an impact and connects people to your brand.
