Business Tip of the Month: Asking For Help

There is a misconception that asking for help is a weakness, but it’s a great way to get advice, make connections, and further your business.

Whether you need ideas for marketing, aren’t sure of how to approach a difficult problem, need assistance with finances, or would like to connect with someone in a similar field, we encourage you to get out of your comfort zone and ask for help. Here are some ideas of who you can ask:

Small Business Development Center: Out of Clarion University, our local SBDC provides consulting services and educational programs to entrepreneurs to start or grow their business. Whether you’re looking for assistance writing a business plan or would like some training on topics like QuickBooks or Marketing, the SBDC is a great resource.

Local experts: Our region is full of experts. Accountants, consultants, contractors, marketers–people of all fields who can assist you.

Other business peers: Sometimes the best person to reach out to is someone in a similar situation. Even if it’s a different type of business, talking to another business owner can help you gain a new perspective and get advice in certain areas.

Mentor: A more formal mentor relationship may be what you need. It can take some time to find the right mentor for you, but by tapping into your network and reaching out to someone, you can find someone who can help you grow as a business owner and build a relationship to last for many years.

Chamber of Commerce: We are always here to help! We can assist you in growing your business, building your network, getting involved in the community, promoting your business, and more.

Have you been dragging your feet on asking for help? This is your sign to reach out to someone! Your business will surely benefit.
