While Spring is less than a month away, chances are that we’ll continue to deal with snow and ice for several weeks. Business delivers enough challenges and worrying about someone falling on your property should not be one of them.

Chamber member Bob Fox, owner of Foxmelt, reminds us that using the right products can be the key to keeping your walks and driveways safe. He also explains that all ice melt products are not created equal. Calcium chloride is typically regarded as the best performing ice melt for fast melting and long-lasting action. Less expensive, but also effective, is magnesium treated salt.

If you’d like to be pet friendly, you may want to consider a non-salt product. New mineral based products can be very effective while safer for pets, plants and concrete.
