Local Author Awarded Bronze Medal for Book Based on Venango Region

“Rust on the Allegheny,” by local author Corey McCullough, is an Independent Publisher Awards Bronze Medal Winner.

The annual “IPPY” Awards is the longest-running unaffiliated contest recognizing the best in publishing from independent publishing houses. “Rust” took home Bronze this year in the Best Regional Fiction category. It is one of the few medal-winners to come from a self-published author.

“Rust on the Allegheny” is a historical fiction novel set in western Pennsylvania. It is a multi-generation family saga that tells the story of an industrial town on the Allegheny River and features fictionalized versions of places, people, and events of the Oil Region.

McCullough, a native of Venango County and graduate of Cranberry High School, self-published “Rust” in 2021.

McCullough’s books are available at the Oil City Library and can be purchased on Amazon or through his website at thefallenodyssey.com/products

Congratulations, Corey!
