International Women’s Day • March 8

International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.

Marked annually on March 8th, International Women’s Day (IWD) is one of the most important days of the year to celebrate women’s achievements, raise awareness about women’s equality, lobby for accelerated gender parity, and fundraise for female-focused charities.

This year’s IWD theme is #ChooseToChallenge. A challenged world is an alert world. Individually, we’re all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate women’s achievements. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.

International Women’s Day provides a perfect opportunity to get involved in forging women’s equality in the workplace. While IWD activity escalates on March 8, Prime Employers for Women maintain a deep and continuous focus on equity, diversity and inclusion all year round as part of their values. Increasingly, organizations worldwide are providing progressive policies, practices, benefits and support mechanisms so women’s careers can thrive – and these workplaces can offer women appealing career prospects. Chamber member, McDonalds, is an IWD Prime Employer for Women. You can learn more at internationalwomensday.com/ PrimeEmployersforWomen.
