EDUCATION UPDATE

As workforce remains a prominent topic of discussion, local educational institutions respond by providing various career training opportunities.

Just two examples are:
Northern PA Regional College provides opportunities in business, focusing on skills in accounting, marketing, human resources, and small business entrepreneurship.
Venango Technology Center offers a one-year nursing program with hands-on experience and job placement assurance.

See For Yourself: Volunteer with VEX Robotics

Every year, Cranberry High School hosts multiple VEX Robotics Competitions, welcoming students from elementary to high school levels across the region. To strengthen community bonds, elevate the event’s professionalism, and enhance fairness, they have been enlisting community members to volunteer as Emcees, Judges, Referees, and Scorekeepers.

This initiative offers a valuable opportunity for businesses to engage with students who are designing, building, coding, and operating robots – a pillar of our future workforce. These individuals are the budding engineers, project managers, and innovators of tomorrow.

As VEX articulates, their principles harmoniously resonate with the VenangoREADY attributes we advocate for: “Beyond science and engineering principles, VEX encourages creativity, teamwork, leadership, and problem solving among groups. It allows educators of all types to engage and inspire the STEM problem solvers of tomorrow!”

On March 4 and 5, more than 20 local student teams have earned their spots and will compete alongside their peers at the Western Pennsylvania State Championship for VEX Robotics, hosted at PennWest Clarion. It would be wonderful to see our local business community uniting to support these students, fostering their development as they lead the path for our region’s future.

Contact the Venango Chamber to get connected to these local efforts.
