The Bike ’n Brew takes place the Saturday before the festival, on July 21, in Justus Park. This year marks our third annual event, and we’re looking forward to a day full of outdoor activities and craft beer samples along the Allegheny River.
The Thursday during Oil Heritage Festival, July 26, is our Ice Cream Social in Central Avenue Plaza by the Oil City Library. We’ll be scooping ice cream for the community, as local music is playing and children are enjoying themselves at the fun fair and children’s parade.
You may wonder—what do craft beer and ice cream have to do with a young professionals group? While these two events are great fundraisers to help FLEX create new programs and continue to operate, the main reason we host these events is to get involved in the community.
Being an active young professional is much more than attending networking events or holding meetings; we strive to have a presence in our community. This helps us to create recognition of the group, get to know other people and organizations, and play a role in helping this area be a great place to live, work, and play.
If you’d like to get involved in the community with us, we invite you to volunteer. Both events require only a few hours of time commitment and effort, and every helping hand makes a huge difference.
To sign up to volunteer, just contact Ashley, program manager at the Venango Area Chamber, at acowles@venangochamber.org or(814) 676-8521.
Whether you come to help or you attend, we hope to see you in July at the Bike ‘n Brew and Ice Cream Social!
