The Franklin Area School District recently chose Dr. Eugene Thomas to fill the role of superintendent. School board President Sabrina Backer said the PA School Board Association conducted the candidate search, references, checks, and conducted interviews, and that Thomas’ “exceptional background, experience, and references” were factors in the decision.

Thomas grew up outside of New Castle and has family and relatives in Titusville, Marienville, and New Castle. Thomas, joined by his wide Lisa and daughter Gianna, hopes to finish his career with the district.

Backer said expectations are that Thomas will “come in and take the district to new heights and really engage the staff and community.”
