United Way to Host Big Basket Bingo


United Way of Venango County invites everyone to their 6th Annual Big Basket Bingo event. Big Basket Bingo is bingo with a twist; an evening that will include 15 games, all with baskets valued at $100 or more. All proceeds will benefit the United Way of Venango County and support their efforts to improve the  quality of life for local residents.

The event will take place Saturday, February 23, at the Rocky Grove Volunteer Fire Department. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and can be purchased at the United Way of Venango County office, Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce, and Venango Area Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to the baskets, there will be five special games featuring prizes valued at $250 or more as well as raffles, rip-offs, lottery trees, and food for sale.

Daffodil Days Return


Daffodil2The American Cancer Society is holding its annual Daffodil Days fundraiser from January 1 through February 5.
The flowers will be ready for pickup during the week of March 17 at the Franklin Area Chamber of Commerce. The proceeds will benefit the buyers choice in teams at the Relay for Life.
Bunches of 10-cut daffodils, potted mini-daffodils and daffodil-shaped lollipops of milk and white chocolate will also be sold.

Venango Campus Student Organization Recognized


CU Serve Special Group Equity AwardCU Serve, a Clarion University student organization based at Venango Campus, won the Special Group Award at the University’s 24th Annual Equity Awards on November 14,  in recognition of their dedication and commitment to equity.

CU Serve (formerly SEED Club) has been an integral part of the student life heartbeat at Venango Campus since the 2000s. Their purpose is to connect and engage students through fellowship and service learning experiences that provide them with opportunities to grow their understanding of the world.

Annually, CU Serve participates in activities and events at Venango Campus and beyond, including campus programming, such as their NOLA Campus Fest and Cultural Arts event, service projects across the county, and an annual service trip.

CU Serve will host a dinner fundraiser on Wednesday, December 5, from 4-7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church’s Community Wing, 215 East Bissell Avenue in Oil City, PA, to support their spring break service trip to New Orleans.
