Joe Taylor Ford Changes Hands, Now Griffin Phillis Ford Motors

Amy Phillis and Joe Taylor have a lot in common beyond their love of selling cars. While operating their own dealerships in different counties, they both upheld a commitment to their communities and share values around the kind of employers they wanted to be.

Thankfully, they also shared a mutual friend, who introduced them to each other.  Amy, who owns Griffin Motors in Meadville, was looking for an opportunity to return to Venango County, having previously owned a dealership here.  At the same time, Joe was preparing his succession plan, one that would retain his commitment to his employees and customers.  Months of conversation led to the sale of Joe Taylor Ford, effective April 30.

Now known as Griffin Phillis Ford Motors, much about the dealership remains the same.  However, customers current and future will notice the change in signage and a new website griffinphillisford.com. Amy says “We believe in having a strong digital presence to make it easier for our customers to find their next car with us.”

Amy shared that Joe will still be dropping by the business and working on occasion.  She is excited to continue the relationships she already has with other local dealers and looks forward to meeting more of the community.  Grand opening celebrations are planned for July, with a Chamber mixer scheduled for July 18.  Join us in welcoming Amy and congratulating her team!

Venango Chamber First Quarter Wrap-Up

At the end of the first quarter of another year, we are excited to share how much has already been accomplished by you and your chamber.

Continuing to follow our strategic plan and the commitment to connect business to business, the Chamber’s Annual Dinner brought together over 200 business representatives to celebrate success in the region.

To add to the excitement, the new website at www.venangochamber.org was launched that very day. The new website put our member businesses front and center, sharing the stories of what they do and providing a dynamic directory that will continue to add promotional value to each listing.

This quarter, members met on several occasions, including the Lee James Business Mixer, the Oil City High School Career Fair, and the Cranberry Mall Expo. April, we’ll host our first Membership 101, where you can learn how to best utilize your membership listing.

Leadership Venango met each month, in January at UPMC, in February at Clarion University – Venango, and in March at Komatsu Mining Corp.  After two more sessions, this first class of 13 will graduate on May 22.  Save the date to join them for their celebration that evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Planning is well underway for the Oil Heritage Festival, with a few tweaks planned to this year’s event.

A new offering for members are Tech Talks, held on the third Friday of each month, at the Chamber from 8 to 9 a.m.  This round table discussion is perfect for those who are already established on social media, looking for peers to network with, and share tips or explore challenges.  Contact us if you are interested in participating in the next meeting.

Now that Spring has arrived and we all begin to move about more, we invite you to stop by the Chamber, let us know a great time to visit you, or check out our calendar for the next chance to meet up at an event!

Prior to her job at the Northwest Commission, where she started in May of this year, Rebecca worked in banking for almost a decade. In the community, Rebecca serves on the Friends of the Oil Creek Board of Directors and is involved with multiple committees at the United Way of Venango County.

Rebecca resides in President and enjoys living along the river. In her free time, she likes being outdoors kayaking in the warmer months and skiing in the winter.

“I enjoy living and working in the Venango area because it’s such a close knit community,” Rebecca said. “I look forward to continuing to serve for the Chamber and other community organizations, to help our county and surrounding areas thrive.”
