FLEX Your Goals

FLEX launched the FLEX Your Goals program in October of 2017 as a way to help young professionals develop both personally and professionally. Through the program, FLEX has utilized Goalify (a goals tracking app), hosted an ongoing speaker series, held book discussions, and participated in team-building activities and workshops.

Upcoming meet-ups for the program are shared on the FLEX Facebook page.

FLEX Mission

Future Leaders’ and Entrepreneurs’ Exchange (FLEX) is the young professionals group of the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce and represents the needs and interests of young professionals by positioning ourselves as leaders, entrepreneurs, and advocates for the sustainability of the Venango Area through civic engagement, leadership development, and networking.

What is FLEX?

FLEX provides Venango Area young professionals (suggested age 40 years and under) with a setting to build relationships and develop professionally. The program also helps to cultivate these future leaders and provides them with opportunities for making connections and developing their careers so that they can help shape the future of the Venango Area. FLEX is a division of the Venango Area Chamber of Commerce.

  • Enhance your professional development at various young professional-focused events and programs.
  • Mix and mingle with seasoned business professionals who’ve been there and can share their take on valuable lessons learned.
  • Contribute content to the FYI, a monthly young professional-focused newsletter that offers tips and resources to help you succeed.

FLEX Member Highlight: Rachel Stiller Gets Promotion

IMG_0126-1Please join us in congratulating FLEX President Rachel Stiller on a recent promotion! Rachel works at Borchers Americas Inc in Franklin, where she started in 2015 as the inventory accountant, and has since been promoted to the role of cost accountant at the company’s Kentucky plant.

Her new responsibilities include preparing financial reports for management; reviewing rates of depreciation, labor and overhead; classifying business costs accurately;; establishing standard costs for inventory;  and analyzing costs of raw materials and other supplies and creating cost-benefit analyses.

Rachel will be visiting the Kentucky plant six to eight times a year, and since it is possible to do accounting remotely, she will continue to work out of the Franklin office.

Originally from the area, Rachel attended Clarion University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in accounting and monetary economics. Great job, Rachel!

FLEX Member Highlight: Kasryn Kapp Becomes Licensed Professional Counselor

RynKasryn Kapp recently became a Licensed Professional Counselor! Kasryn attended Millersville University for her bachelor’s in psychology with a minor in sociology, then went directly into a master’s program at Towson University in Maryland for Counseling Psychology.

To become a Licensed Professional Counselor, you must graduate from an approved master’s program, pass the 200-item National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE), complete two years of supervised experience, and pass multiple background checks. Kasryn recently completed her two years of supervised clinical experience and received her license on November 1st.

Kasryn has worked at the Regional Counseling Center in Oil City as a Mental Health Therapist in outpatient. She sees individuals, families, and couples every few weeks and works toward improving mental health, communication, and similar needs.

Kasryn also runs groups including an LGBTQ+ Support Group, an insomnia reduction group, and a relaxation group. “My favorite part about my job is how fulfilling it is,” she said. “I get a sense of meaning and purpose from my work and I love to help people and be an advocate.” Speaking of being an advocate, LGBT people have some of the poorest mental health outcomes mostly due to discrimination and social rejection. In Kasryn’s career, she hopes to make a dent in this statistic and to be an advocate, especially for the LGBTQ+ youth in this area who have little support.

Great job with all your hard work, Kasryn, and congratulations on getting your license!
