Northwest Commission Opens Little Free Library

Little Free Libraries are a global phenomenon. The small, front‐yard book exchanges can be found from Iceland to Tasmania. Now, a new Little Free Library at 395 Seneca Street in Oil City will join the movement.

This Little Free Library project was the result of a lifelong passion of reading and sharing by Lisa Beach, Loan Closing Coordinator at the Northwest Commission. She reached out to community members, family, and friends to fulfill her dream. Donated by Nate Schiffer, owner of Schiffer’s Custom Cabinetry, the beautiful maple library is complete with a glass door and cedar shingles.

The library’s mission is to build community, inspire readers, and expand book access for all. Community members are always welcome to take what they need, and add their own books!

Sponsored by The Northwest Commission, the library was registered with the Little Free Library organization and is now open to the community in front of the Commission building. Visit LittleFreeLibrary.org for more information and to see an interactive map of the registered libraries across the world and their stories.
