In January of this year, Charlie McDaniel was sworn in as Mayor of Sugarcreek Borough, and he looks forward to continuing to serve and make a difference in his community.
“As a concerned tax-paying resident of Sugarcreek, my goal is to help preserve and maintain what we already have,” he said. “I was elected to do a job and I have a moral and fiduciary responsibility to our residents.”
Charlie’s vision is to work in conjunction with the experienced Borough Council to make the area a better place to live. One specific goal of his is to enhance the borough’s police department in an effort to improve overall public safety for residents.
“I’m not a politician and I don’t have a personal agenda; I’m a community member trying to make a difference,” said Charlie.
In the four months that Charlie has served as mayor, the borough has made some great accomplishments, including the reduction of the speed limit on Sugarcreek Drive.
Like any town, Charlie sees some challenges for Sugarcreek that he is ready to help tackle, such as maintaining and developing infrastructure, creating a better workforce, and pursuing more economic development.
Charlie is excited to not only work with the borough, but other community organizations and groups, such as the Valley Grove School District. “We are a unique area with small communities, and I find that we tend to work together better,” he said.
For his career, Charlie is the owner of McDaniel and Associates, an income tax preparation and consulting business located on Sugarcreek Drive. He didn’t always plan to be in the tax business; he was taught by his father upon returning home from serving in the United States Marine Corps for more than 20 years. During his service, he was based in North Carolina and traveled throughout the world, including 13 major deployments, five of which were in combat.
At McDaniel and Associates, Charlie is available 24/7 and does all he can assist his customers—or “family” as he calls them.
Personally, he is happily married, has two children, and is a proud grandfather. In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors hunting. He grew up in the area and is a graduate of Rocky Grove High School and told us: “I love it here.”
Whether it’s through his service to our country, his role as mayor, or his business, Charlie enjoys helping people in any way he can.
