Franklin Library Awarded TRL Grant

The Franklin Public Library has once again been awarded the Teen Reading Lounge grant through the Pennsylvania Humanities Council (PHC). Teen Reading Lounge (TRL) is a nontraditional book club for teens ages 12-18.

TRL immerses them in the humanities as a way to build skills and traits that are vitally important for success in school and the workforce, such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity.

The library is anticipating the first session of TRL to begin by early spring, with the main focus of the upcoming year highlighting cultural diversity. With Venango County being a fairly rural area, they aim to provide teens with a new perspective on the subject and present them with a chance to gain fresh cultural appreciation.

Daidre Green, from the Oil Region Library Association, says, “We are very fortunate to continue supplying our teens with these amazing opportunities provided to us by the generosity of the PHC!”
