Titusville High School students participated in VenangoREADY activities led by United Way Career Counselor, Deanna Wakefield. As part of this lesson on Communication, a speaker described a picture for a listener to draw. Students then discussed how they ensured instructions were clear and how to decrease the chance of miscommunication in real-life dialogue.
Feeling Hopeful for Our Future
Over the last month, the Chamber team has been busy assisting schools in connecting with businesses for career events, mock interviews, field trip locations, and career speakers. We’ve also participated in several career events with students across the Venango region. One week, Kat conducted 25 interviews with high school seniors! While this work can be tiring, we can’t help but walk away feeling hopeful for our future. These impressive students are already out in the community getting work experience and learning important skills to help them be successful in their future careers. Getting to be a part of their journey, providing feedback, and encouraging them has been so uplifting! We, along with the business community, hope to continue supporting these students as they make the transition from school to becoming great assets in the workforce.
