Many Chamber Members Work Together for Community Gardens Effort

The Venango Area Community Gardens has begun placing raised beds throughout the region in an effort to help the community “grow together.” This is the third year this group has made raised beds, built by students at Vo-Tech, available for community groups, such as churches, neighborhoods, and nonprofits.

The gardens committee is made up representatives from local businesses, including Chamber members such as Bay Tree Farm, Venango Technology Center, Core Goods, Penn State Cooperative Extension, Gates & Burns Realty, Mustard Seed Missions, and Oil City Rotary.

Besides offering raised beds, the group hosts gardening classes for the public and community groups, including a square foot gardening class on May 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Vo-Tech. To learn more about the Venango Area Community Gardens, visit facebook.com/VenangoAreaCommunityGardens.
