Starting Monday, November 11, the Crawford Area Transportation Authority (CATA) will begin a new Lifeline bus route that will connect Titusville and Oil City. The decision to create a transit service that would connect Crawford and Venango Counties was based on a public survey as well as input from County Commissioners and service agencies that showed a need for a round-trip transportation option for residents of both counties.
“We’ve been looking at implementing this service for some time,” said Tim Geibel, CATA General Manager. “Based on the feedback we received, we are finally in a position to offer this new service to those riders who depend on us for their transit needs. Now, residents in Crawford and Venango Counties, will have consistent access to more options. We are very proud to be able to provide a way for riders to expand their geographic area which will provide more options to benefit their lives.”
This new service will operate on Mondays and Thursdays from 8:00am until 4:00pm. The route will travel Route 8 and have main hubs located at the Drake Mall (Titusville) and Clifford Street (Oil City) with a stop in Rouseville in each direction.
When a passenger arrives in Oil City, they can transfer to the Venango fixed route system to reach locations in Oil City, Franklin and Seneca. When they arrive in Titusville, they can schedule a CATA GO van to take them where they need to go.
This Lifeline service is sponsored in part by the PA Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Lottery and a grant from the PNC Charitable Trusts.
