Dottie Tawney joined the staff of the Venango Chamber as Executive Assistant in February of 2011. While not a native of Venango County, Dottie easily fit in, when moving from West Virginia with her family in 1996.
Many locals first got to know her in her work with the March of Dimes, where she had the opportunity to meet businesses and volunteers from a multi county area. When March of Dimes closed its local office, Dottie went on to work at Barr’s Insurance before returning to the non-profit world at the Venango Chamber.
A natural fit for chamber work, Dottie has been known for her always pleasant greetings, knack for solving any problem put in front of her, and talent at pulling off any event while making it look easy.
On May 1, Dottie will begin working for the County of Venango, in the County Commissioners’ office. While a great loss for those of us who have had the pleasure to work with her, this role provides Dottie with new opportunities and challenges, while still working with the public she has come to know and enjoy.
When you call the County, you very well may find that it is Dottie’s voice at the other end of the line. I hope you will join us in thanking Dottie for her incredible service at the Venango Chamber and in wishing her the very best in her next adventure.
We invite you to join us on Monday, April 30, anytime from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an open house to celebrate Dottie and send her off.
