Uniting Educators: A Day of Inspiration, Learning, and Growth
On Monday, October 7, around 700 teachers and administrators from the six districts connected to the Venango Technology Center—Cranberry, Forest, Franklin, Oil City, Titusville, and Valley Grove—gathered for a memorable county-wide in-service event. It was the first time in over a decade that everyone came together like this!
The day started with an exciting keynote speech by Dr. Cindy Zurchin, the brilliant mind behind “The Whale Done! School: Transforming a School’s Culture by Catching Students Doing Things Right.” Dr. Zurchin captivated the crowd with her inspiring educational experiences, now being applied to businesses and organizations. Her talk was filled with moving and motivational personal stories that really resonated.
Throughout the day, educators dove into dynamic professional development workshops on cool topics like Canva, AI integration, Mindful Classroom Management, Career Ready Best Practices, and Robotics. They also joined roundtable discussions focused on specific subjects and grade levels, sharing tips on assessments, classroom management, best practices, resources, and support.
Attendees also go to tour VTC to explore their programs. The career fair in the VTC cafeteria was a major highlight, offering educators valuable insights into job opportunities for their students, complete with details on skills needed, educational paths, and salary expectations for various local jobs.
This day of training and collaboration was more than just informative—it was a fantastic opportunity for growth and inspiration!
