Kat and the Chamber team have been actively connecting with students in Career Events and VenangoREADY interviews. This month alone, we’ve had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one career conversations with over 40 students from CLA, Cranberry, Franklin, and Rocky Grove, with more to come at other schools before the school year is through. Many local businesses, along with Chamber board and Education committee members, have also played a vital role in helping to equip students for their future careers!

Unlock the Future: Free Summer Career Camps for Students
United Way will once again host Summer Career Camps aimed at educating students in grades 6th – 10th about the diverse economic ecosystems within Venango County. These camps, offered at no cost, are designed to spark interest and knowledge in various career clusters including Agriculture, Transportation, and Tourism/Hospitality.
Each week-long camp offers students a chance to visit local businesses and learn about various job roles, from maintenance to human resources, while also developing soft skills for professional growth. Camp will also include fun activities, games, and provision of meals and snacks. It’s an excellent way for students to learn, have fun, and potentially discover their future paths.

Target Audience: Local students in grades 6-10
Cost: Free of charge, but registration is required
Location: PennWest Clarion-Venango Campus, Oil City
Schedule: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m., Monday-Friday. Agriculture (July 8- 12), Transportation (July 15-19), Tourism/Hospitality (July 31-August 2), 2024.
Registration: Opens May 1, with all paperwork due 2 weeks prior to each camp’s start date.
