United Way of Venango County: Summer Career Camps

The United Way of Venango County is hosting three Summer Career Camps for students in grades 6th through 10th. The goal of these camps is to educate students on the economic ecosystems that exist in Venango County. Each week-long camp, held daily from 8am to 4 pm, will offer a different career cluster: healthcare, manufacturing, and small business. Classes will be held on campus at PennWest Clarion – Venango in Oil City. Additionally, students will tour many local businesses to explore different workplaces and a variety of jobs.

• Small Business: 6/19-23
• Manufacturing: 7/10-14
• Healthcare: 7/31-8/4

There will be two in-person sign-ups to ask questions and submit registration paperwork – June 6 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. & 3 – 5 p.m. at the Franklin Library and June 8 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. & 2 – 4 p.m. at the Oil City Library.

Start Planning for 2023-2024 Career Events Now!

The month of May saw the last of our local schools’ career events for the 2022-2023 school year, but there are still opportunities for businesses to connect with students over the summer through work experience or events like the Summer Career Camps above.

We hope your business is planning to participate in 2023-2024 career events.

If you’re interested in participating, contact your local school to get on their mailing lists.

But if you’re not sure who to contact, reach out to Kat at the Chamber to stay updated on upcoming career events across the region.

You can also use this time to prepare displays for your career table and order branded swag to pass out at events so you’re ready to dive right in at the start of the school year!
