I’m excited to be back at the Venango Chamber for my winter break! I just finished the fall semester of my Junior year at Slippery Rock University and am eager to get involved in upcoming activities.
This past semester was definitely the most difficult, but I was able to learn a lot from my classes. I took Operations Management, Business Analytics II, Intermediate Corporate Finance, Microeconomics, and 3 dance classes. I was enrolled in the honors or high impact practice sections of these classes to get some extra leadership experience.
I have learned a lot of Excel tools that I will apply to my festival spreadsheets to increase their efficiency for next year. I have also been running an Instagram page for one of my clubs to keep up with my professional social media presence.
At the Chamber over the past 2 summers, I was able to gain a lot of event/project management experience through organizing the parade and basket raffle, as well as running the Oil Heritage Festival Facebook page. This internship also taught me better online organizational techniques which helped me be more successful at school.
I greatly appreciate all of the experience I get from working here and interacting with the community. It allows me to relate my class material to real-world scenarios. One of my favorite tasks at the Chamber has been event planning, especially because I know how much the community and local businesses value and appreciate it. I also enjoy helping out with the newsletter because I get to learn more about the Venango area.
