Drake Well Museum and Park Hires Full-Time Site Administrator


The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission (PHMC) has appointed Michael Knecht to the role of Site Administrator at Drake Well Museum and Park. In this position, Knecht will supervise the 240-acre historic site showcasing the well, which launched the modern petroleum Industry.

Knecht has led many nonprofit and government agencies, most recently as the site administrator at Old Economy Village in Ambridge, PA where he worked for over ten years. Old Economy Village tells the story of the Harmony Society, one of the oldest and most successful religious communal groups of the nineteenth century.

Knecht is a strong planner who shows attention to detail and passion for his work. Knecht brings a plethora of experience to his new role at Drake Well, having directed a wide variety of art, history, and cultural organizations during his career. He is excited to live in the Northwest corner of Pennsylvania again and to be part of the Titusville Community
