ZingTrain Tip: Sharing Your Vision With Your Team

Do you have a vision for your business or organization?

Zingerman’s defines a vision as: “A picture of the success of a project at a particular time in the future.” It is not a mission statement or strategic plan, rather a “North Star,” a never-ending piece of work that we commit to going after for life. It’s a vivid description of what “success” looks and feels like.

A vision can be for a smaller project or for your business as a whole, and can be created for as soon as six months or as far as 10 years.

Once you create your vision and know where you want to take your business, don’t pass up the opportunity to share this with your team.

If your team doesn’t have a shared understanding of your vision, each person might be working towards their own idea of what the  future looks like.

By sharing your vision with your staff, you are able to define, document, and communicate what success looks like, helping everyone to imagine themselves there.

Having a shared, inspiring vision will bring your team together, all striving for a common goal, and can offer hope, giving everyone something to work toward.
