Traveling in the Time of COVID

Are you ready to take that vacation you’ve been putting off? The great news is that there are many options, including beyond the U.S. borders. The bad news is that it can be very tricky to navigate what you will need to do if boarding a plane or crossing a border.

There are many variables to consider, including your destination, your vaccination status, and whether you have had COVID recently. The rules for entry keep changing, so it is best to check the requirements for travel early. Then, check back one week before, and again, 48 hours prior to travel.

Right now, you are required to have a negative COVID test 24 hours before flying back into the US. There are no domestic restrictions at this time, other than face masks.

If you’ve never used a travel agent to book your trips, now might be the time to consider it. The qualified agents at Williams Travel share that they are now spending much of their days helping their clients navigate the exit and entry requirements for their travels. Along with identifying the specific rules for each destination, they provide links to government websites where pre-approval is needed for entry, and can assist with locating the best testing site.

This may also be a good time to consider adding travel insurance, as more travelers are finding it necessary to change or cancel plans. Carol, Julie, and Stew at Williams Travel are all ready and excited to help you plan your next trip, and assure us that travel is safe and deals are abundant. You can contact them at (814) 677-1237 or stop by the office located at 8 State Street in Oil City.

If you are navigating travel, Williams Travel tells us a reliable source of information is www.travel.state.gov. They also add that CVS in Titusville and Walgreens in Meadville both provide online scheduling of testing for travel and typically report results in under 24 hours. Both locations offer drive-thru testing 7 days a week and require an appointment.
