OCV Featured in Magazine

The Oil City Vineyard (OCV) Church was featured in the Fall 2017 edition of the Evangelicals Magazine in an article titled “Leaving the City to Plant in a Small Town.” In the article, Pastor Charlie Cotherman shares his experience moving his family from Charlottesville, Virginia, to Oil City, planting a Vineyard Church, and getting integrated into our community.

“But as real as the problems are, we have also found an amazing amount of promise in our town. We discovered that many in Oil City are excited to hear about new ideas and to see young leaders (Millennials, even!) who are willing to roll up their sleeves and love their town. We joined the Chamber of Commerce, adopted a block, and welcomed community leaders into a service for panel discussion,” Charlie wrote. “In all of this we see God’s hand opening doors for influence and connecting us to other churches and leaders in our town. We are praying for synergy–kingdom synergy! We are also praying that many more embark on this adventure by following the big call of God to ‘small’ places.”

OCV has grown tremendously since it started about one year ago with 15 people in the living room of Charlie’s home. The church recently relocated from the National Transit Building to the Oil City YWCA to accommodate the congregation and looks forward to what the future has in store. Join them for worship on Sundays at 10 a.m. at the YWCA on Central Avenue in Oil City and visit for a list of home groups, recordings of sermons, and more information about OCV.
