Staying Connected in a Changing Media Landscape

With the recent announcement of the closing of the The Derrick, many in our community paused, and perhaps felt concern, about where we will now turn for local news.

Thankfully, our region remains supported by strong media partners, including Explore Venango, Eight & 322, Seven Mountains Media, and Stream TV. The Chamber also remains committed to sharing timely updates through our printed monthly newsletter, email communications, social media, and website.

We are encouraged that the Oil Region Alliance will take ownership of The Derrick. While changes may occur, we anticipate continuity from the local staff we’ve come to know and trust.

Even with these resources available, we often hear: “I didn’t know that event was happening,” or “When did that business open?”

Staying informed today requires intention. As an organization dedicated to sharing accurate and timely information, one of our biggest challenges is ensuring news reaches those who would benefit from it.

The responsibility is shared. Consider what matters most to you — local events, business openings, community initiatives — and follow the outlets that regularly cover those topics. Subscribe. Engage. Stay connected.

We are grateful for the media partners who work hard to keep our community informed. But even the best sources cannot reach us if we are not actively paying attention.
