The Oil Region Alliance (ORA) is celebrating America250 with the Epic Allegheny Odyssey (EAO), a six-day, 105-mile fully supported kayak sojourn on the Allegheny River from Warren to Emlenton.

Participants will be guided on the water, shuttled between stops, and provided meals and lodging for the duration of the trip. Kayakers will also have the option of registering for a half-trip segment. The half-trip segment will go from Warren to Oil City.

“The Allegheny River is the perfect place to celebrate America 250 because the river is so historic and important to the development of our country,” said Kim Harris, ORA Outdoor Recreation Program Manager, and EAO organizer.

Also included is programming each evening with historians and re-enactors highlighting the river’s impact on native people, the environment, and industry throughout the centuries. These presentations will be free and open to the public.

The sojourn kicks off in Warren and will conclude in Emlenton following a week of paddling, educational programming, and community engagement along the river corridor.

Organizers note that participants should have at least intermediate paddling experience, as the event is designed as an immersive but active river adventure supported by local partners and outfitters.
