MEET YOUR LOCAL LEADERS: Jeannie Ritchey, County Treasurer

Jeannie Ritchey was recently appointed to the position of Venango County Treasurer, upon the retirement of Deb Sharpe. We spoke with Jeannie recently to learn more about her and her position with the County.

What was your path to the position you now hold?
I worked at PNC Bank for 26 years and after a short break, came to work for Venango County as Chief Deputy Treasurer, a position I held for 10 years.

What helped prepare you for this job?
Working alongside Deb was a great experience. She was a terrific mentor and provided a wonderful connection to the community and other leaders.

What are the key responsibilities of your position?
I manage a staff of four and we issue a variety of licenses, like hunting, fishing, small games of chance, and dog licenses.

What do you enjoy about the work?
I have found it very satisfying working with the public and with our County Commissioners.

How could others be helpful to you?
I don’t think everyone knows that when our community members purchase licenses from our office, they are supporting the County.

What are you most looking forward to in 2022?
As I continue to settle in, I look forward to meeting more of the public and advancing the work of the Treasurer’s office.
