Leadership Venango: Connections That Keep Growing

For Kate Whitling, Leadership Venango was a starting point for deeper community involvement and leadership. A member of the Leadership Venango Class of 2022, Kate serves as Vice President of her family business, Schake Industries, where she leads in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Following the program, Kate became actively involved in FLEX, the Chamber’s young professionals group, continuing to build relationships and expand her understanding of local leadership. Those connections soon led to an opportunity to serve on the Venango Chamber Board of Directors, allowing her to contribute her perspective to the region’s business community.

Through her engagement with the Chamber, Kate has also helped strengthen Schake Industries’ involvement in community initiatives, reinforcing the company’s commitment to giving back and supporting local growth. Her journey reflects how Leadership Venango connects participants not only to key people, but to opportunities that encourage meaningful, long-term engagement.

“Leadership Venango encouraged me to step outside my comfort zone, get involved, and use my voice. Through the program, I found not just professional growth, but a deeper connection to the people and organizations that make our community thrive,” Kate shared.

Kate’s story highlights the impact of Leadership Venango in preparing leaders to step forward with confidence, serve their community, and create lasting connections that benefit their organizations and Venango County.
