Izaak Walton League Celebrates Centennial

The Izaak Walton League of America, created in 1922, is celebrating its centennial this year! The Ike’s is one of the oldest of the country’s conservation and shooting sports organizations. The Oil City Chapter is just four years younger, having been founded in 1926.

The Oil City Chapter remains a local voice for conservation, the shooting sports, hunters, anglers, and all that love the outdoors. The Chapter’s Waltonian Park, located off Deep Hollow Road, features a dedicated handgun range, a 300- yard rifle range, a dedicated .22 rimfire range, an archery range, and more.

The Chapter sponsors and/or hosts a wide-range of youth programs, including Youth Field Days and the annual Oil Heritage Festival Fishing Derby, as well as a variety of shooting events from practical pistol to bench rest competitions.

On this, the Ike’s centennial year, the local Chapter invites all in the community to learn more about the Izaak Walton League of America and the Oil City Chapter. Information can be found online at IWLA.org or at Facebook.com/OilCityIkes.

Congratulations on 100 years!
